motorized flexshade Motorized FlexShades
The ultimate in high tech convenience and functional reliability.

Motorized FlexShades by Draper offer the ultimate in high tech convenience and functional reliability. Compact European motors are located within the roller for smooth, reliable operation.

Installed in Draper extruded pocket at the head, shades disappear when not in use. Eliminates sloppy stacking at jambs common with draperies and vertical blinds.

A simple wall switch is standardly included with each motorized unit. Optional switching systems are available for total flexibility, including sun sensors, programmable timers, and combinations of group and individual control.

In addition to standard motorized roller dimensions and voltages, low voltage motors and smart motor technology are available on request.

For efficient energy management and sheer convenience, Draper Motorized FlexShades are the most intelligent sun control solutions.

Controls
Motorized FlexShades utilize advanced motor-in-roller design for maximum sound isolation and ease of installation. Draper offers a wide variety of control options.

Crank Override Option
Crank override provides for manual operation of the shades in the event of a power outage or motor failure. The detachable crank may be stored out of the way until needed. This option is particularly attractive with blackout shades in audio visual areas.

Multiple-Panel Shades
Exclusive Draper carrier bearing allows for two shade panels on one 2" roller with a single motor. A no-sag installation is possible up to a width of sixteen feet. Continuous fascia neatly conceals hardware. (Not suitable for use with side channels.)

Manual FlexShades

skylight Skylight FlexShades

Add a shading system to your skylight to protect people and furnishings.

An unprotected skylight can generate intense heat and glare. FlexShade Systems are the ideal remedy. Inconspicuously recessed into the skylight opening, a Skylight FlexShade provides sunlight and UV control to protect people and furnishings. Available with motorized or manual operating systems. Select a mesh or translucent fabric for light filtration, or use SunBloc or Flocké for complete opacity. Standard hardware finish is clear anodized; black, white, ivory or bronze enamel finish is available.

Operating Systems
Motorized OperationMotorized Skylight FlexShades are a convenient, unobtrusive covering for inaccessible skylights. Roller boxes and side channels can be recessed into the skylight opening; shade operates smoothly and quietly on command. Perimeter support angles simplify installation. Spring roller opposite electric motor maintains constant tension, and exclusive, patented Fabric Retention System prevents disengagement of fabric from channels.

A variety of control systems are available for motorized Skylight FlexShades.

Crank OperatorSkylight FlexShades can also be manually operated by detachable crank and gearbox. Specify length of crank required (6' maximum in standard configuration; heavy-duty crank available to 10' long).

Detachable crank is the most convenient way to operate a Skylight FlexShade manually. Also available as an emergency override system with motorized units. Bell-shaped connector makes the crank easy to attach, even from the ground. Note: To facilitate proper operation, Skylight units must be installed square and with rollers level. Installers must be qualified craftsmen.

Dimensions
Due to the force of gravity, Skylight FlexShades are available to a maximum unsupported width of 42". Larger units require one or more support cables, up to a maximum of 6' wide x 10' long. Cables are 3/16" diameter vinyl clad aircraft cable.

flexshade panels
Flex Shade Panels (back to top)

Install a fixed frame panel to the interior or exterior of a window, skylight, sloped glazing, or odd-shaped opening.

FlexShade fixed frame panels provide sunlight filtration at lower cost than operable solutions. They are particularly well suited for skylights and sloped glazing in solariums or odd-shaped openings. (Not suitable for curved framing).

Use FlexShade Panels to help prevent ultraviolet damage to expensive textiles and furniture located in direct sunlight. Relieve the discomfort from solar heat and glare often associated with unprotected glazing.

Although SunScreen® is the standard fabric offered, FlexShade Panels can utilize any of Draper's mesh fabrics, permanently attached to lightweight aluminum frames. A wide range of openness factors are available, ranging from 3% to 32%.

Standard fixed panels utilize a roll formed aluminum frame. Heavy Duty fixed panels utilize an extruded aluminum frame. Frames are available in dark bronze, white, or mill finish aluminum.

Panels mount easily on surface or within framing of windows with clips. Clips allow removal of FlexShade Panels for routine maintenance and cleaning. For exterior usage, specify heavy duty extruded track.

Available in sizes up to 5' x 10'. Panels exceeding 40" in length require a center support member.

LightBloc Shading System (back to top)

Precision engineered and custom built for each opening.

Completely block all light with a 100% opaque fabric.

For total darkness, specify the LightBloc Shading System. The LightBloc may be motorized or manually operated with bead chain/ clutch, crank, or spring roller. Choose from 13 SunBloc fabric colors, or 14 Flocké colors.

Ideal for audiovisual, conference, and training rooms, the LightBloc is also a popular choice for home theatre installations. Durable anodized and painted finishes insure an aesthetically pleasing installation.

The system includes aluminum headbox, side and sill channels. Headboxes are available in styles to recess or surface mount (standard). Exclusive, patented Fabric Retention System prevents disengagement of fabric from channels. Units made with Flocké fabric are available in sizes up to 80" wide and do not have the Fabric Retention System.

All hardware is available with black, white, ivory, clear anodized, or charcoal bronze finish. Internal light seals and opacity plates eliminate all light leaks. Note: To ensure total blackout, caulking around perimeter is recommended.

Operating Systems
Motorized OperationMotorized LightBloc shades: for maximum reliability and convenience. Motor is located within the roller for smooth, reliable operation. Right hand motor location is standard.

Crank OperatorCrank operated LightBloc FlexShades offer complete reliability and precise light control, with virtually no effort. Even the largest shades operate smoothly and effortlessly. Compact bidirectional gear assembly can be mounted either right (standard) or left, as preferred. Crank hinges to form a thin, straight rod at edge of window when not in use. Crank operator can be permanently mounted or detachable.

Bead Chain/Clutch—Unlike competitive systems, the Draper bidirectional clutch never needs adjustment and can be mounted either right (standard) or left, as preferred. Shades stop when operating chain is released and cannot mistrack. Standard metal bead chain hangs at the side, leaving the view unobstructed. Preset up and down stops prevent shades from being raised or lowered too far.

Spring Roller—Galvanized steel rollers and heavy-duty springs sized to operate safely and reliably. Roller is under constant tension, with a latching chain at sill.
